Accumulating evidence for the unique social, behavioral, and physical health benefits of positive emotion and related well-being constructs (e.g., optimism, life satisfaction) has led to the development and testing of positive psychological interventions (PPIs) that are specifically aimed at improving emotional well-being and consist of practices such as gratitude, savoring, and acts of kindness. A rapidly growing body of research demonstrate modest but promising effects across a variety of samples and delivery modes. In this symposium, three new investigators present innovative approaches to PPIs, charting important next steps for the field.
