Effects of well-being dialogue cards (#681)
This presentation aims to describe Well-Being Dialogue Cards (WBDC), how to use them, and show their effectiveness.
WBDC were developed to enhance happiness and well-being based on the Four Factors of Happiness, which was derived from an analysis of 1,500 Japanese participants’ survey: factor 1 “let’s try it!” (self-realization and growth), factor 2 “thank you!” (connection and gratitude), factor 3 “it will turn out all right!” (positive and optimistic), factor 4 “be yourself” (independence and individuality). There are 52 cards in total, 13 cards in each category. A happiness-enhancing question is written on each card.
To examine the effects of WBDC, practice sessions were conducted for approximately 100 participants of the WBDC facilitator course. They were divided into groups of three or four. They practiced facilitating WBDC on Zoom, asking and answering questions in turn for about one hour once a week. They had eight practice sessions in total for eight weeks.
According to the results of a Well-Being Circle survey, conducted before and after the WBDC facilitator course, it was found that the participants’ subjective happiness significantly increased. The finding suggests that WBDC can deepen self-awareness, improve resilience, and understand others through dialogue.
