Prof. Dr. Dirk Lehr, Professor of Health Psychology and Applied Biological Psychology at the Institute for Sustainability, Education & Psychology, Leuphana University Lueneburg, Germany.
Dirk Lehr has a background in Medical Psychology and he was a senior researcher at the Department of Medical Psychology and at the Clinic of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Philipps University of Marburg before moving to Leuphana University (both Germany). He is a certified psychotherapist. Prof. Lehr is head of the ethics committee of Leuphana University and spokesman of the German Association of Health Psychology for eHealth.
His research focuses on occupational e-mental health and on the evaluation of digital interventions, especially targeting the adverse consequences of chronic work-related stress. He is interested in the promotion of recovery from stress, fostering resilience via positive psychological approaches, reduction of stress, prevention and treatment of insomnia and depression employing internet- and smartphone-based intervention. His group has developed more than 10 different internet- and smartphone-based mental health interventions, including trainings for gratitude, resilience and self-compassion. He is very interested in the benefits of digital interventions for people and therefore he likes conducting randomized controlled trials in the general population.
